COMPOSITE RESIN RESTORATIONS
When are they used for?
In the majority of cases, they are used when you have a small fracture in your tooth or when there is disharmony in the color and size of the teeth. This is one of the most important developments in dentistry, and especially in the field of welding, which revealed the way for an effective correction of aesthetic disharmonies. The restorative material is composite resin and is available in a wide variety of colors to match your natural dentition.
Compared to other restorations they are more economical. The procedure is simple with minimum invasion on your natural teeth.
Composite resin restorations can be either permanent or temporary until the final restoration, as for instance ceramic veneers. They are an ideal solution for children after an injury.
CERAMIC VENEERS
ΟCeramic veneers is the solution to many aesthetic problems. They can correct the size, shape and color of teeth. They have the ability to close spaces between the teeth, as well as lengthen or shorten the teeth. These require a minimum thickness of material.
The specialized dentist-prosthodontist can provide you with all the necessary information in order to decide if ceramic veneers are the appropriate option for you. This includes talking about what you like and don't like about your smile and most importantly what your goal is.
Will my teeth be drilled?
There are two types of ceramic veneers:
Conventional and Non-conventional.
Conventional veneers are the most common ones. The dentist removes a small amount of enamel from the surface of the tooth to create space for the veneer.
On the other hand, non-conventional veneers do not require the removal of tooth substance. These minimum thickness veneers are bonded to the existing enamel. However, there are limitations to this technique.
Your dentist will help you choose which type or which combination of these is right for you. Furthermore, there is now a way to visualize your new smile before the final work and see the result virtually. After agreeing on the treatment plan, the prosthodontist works with a specialist dental technician. The time in the dental chair can be limited to two sessions and your new ceramic veneers will not stand out from the rest of the teeth.
How long do they last?
Although ceramic veneers are extremely durable, they are not indestructible. Hard and sticky foods should be avoided. In case you clench your teeth during night time, the use of a protective night guard during sleep is necessary. With proper care, ceramic veneers remain consistent for many years.
