"Prevention is better than cure."

Hippocrates of Kos, 460-370 BC.

Since the time of the father of Medicine to the distant civilizations of India and China, there are quotes that emphasize the value of prevention for our health.

An Indian saying states that "a gram of prevention is worth a ton of cure" and in an Egyptian papyrus found the following writing "Of what we swallow we benefit only a quarter, while the remaining three quarters benefit the doctors!"

It is a known fact that the same rule applies in dentistry, especially if we consider that many of the problems of the mouth are not only painful, but also interconnected with our overall health. Therefore, apart from the daily practice of oral hygiene, a check-up visit by our dentist once or twice a year is considered important.

Especially for younger patients that their dentition is not yet fully developed, the dental check-up aims to enforce the tooth enamel with fluoride treatment and to protect the first permanent teeth with preventive fillings - sealants without removing any dental substance.
