I have lost all my teeth! What could I do?
Partial or complete teeth loss makes us look older and it affects the mastication process and our speech.The most affordable solution is a complete denture set. For many years, people around us make use of such prosthesis, without necessarily distinguishing from natural teeth, thanks to the skill of experts and the evolution of modern materials.
Is denture the only solution?
There are 3 types of removable prosthesis:
- Complete dentures/ overdentures
- Hybrid dentures
- Partial dentures
In a total loss of teeth, a full set of complete dentures is the most affordable way to replace them. This solution also provides the restoration of the lost facial support, smooth chewing and speech.
. On the other hand, complete dentures remain unstable, especially in the lower jaw, where the movement of the tongue can dispatch them.
In that case, hybrid dentures could be an alternative treatment. They are based over remaining teeth or dental implants and they provide the certainty of stability in the mouth. In the lower jaw, two implants are, usually, enough to hold an overdenture, while we need at least four implants in the upper jaw.

ΤPartial dentures can be as stable as hybrids, especially when they are bilaterally supported by remaining natural teeth.
Will I be able to chew?
Each type of removable prosthesis is made in a dental laboratory with the help of mouth impressions taken by the dentist. Modifications intraorally are made in order to restore the mastication and speaking ability. If all the remaining teeth need to be extracted, simultaneously, an immediate full denture will be made so that the patient does not remain toothless.
. After the healing of the tissues, the permanent set of dentures is fabricated. Due to bone resorption overtime, the prosthesis may need modifications. The number or recall sessions varies among patients.
The main purpose, however, is to ensure the right function of the speech, the mastication and your aesthetic fulfillment as well.
